This policy explains what personal information Rampa collects when you use the Rampa app and userampa.com, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, write to us at hello@userampa.com.
1. Who we are
Rampa (“Rampa”, “we”, “us”) provides the Rampa app, which lets you add money from mobile money or a bank, hold a balance in US dollars, withdraw it, send money to other Rampa customers and pay suppliers abroad. Payments are processed by our licensed payment partners. Rampa is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your full name, email address, phone number, country and city, and the username you choose, if you choose one.
- Your PIN: the four-digit PIN that approves payments. We store it only in a hashed form we cannot read back.
- Identity verification: photos of your identity document, a selfie or short video, and the details on your document, such as your name, date of birth, nationality, document number and address.
- Business accounts: company name, registration details and documents, and the identity details of the company’s owners and directors.
- Payment details: the mobile money numbers and bank accounts you withdraw to, the suppliers you pay and their bank details, invoices you attach and the references you add.
- Messages: what you tell us when you contact support.
Information we collect as you use Rampa
- Transactions: your balance, deposits, withdrawals, transfers and supplier payments, with their amounts, fees, exchange rates, dates and status.
- Device and security information: your IP address, device type, operating system and app version, and records of sign-ins, used to keep your account secure and prevent fraud.
Information from others
- Verification results from our identity verification providers, including whether your document and selfie checks passed.
- Payment updates from our payment partners, such as whether a deposit arrived or a withdrawal was paid.
- Screening results from sanctions, politically exposed person and fraud checks that the law requires.
Permissions on your phone
The app asks for the camera, and on iPhone the microphone, only when you verify your identity or photograph an invoice. It reads photos only when you pick one. If you unlock the app with Face ID or your fingerprint, your phone checks it and tells the app only whether it matched: we never receive your face or fingerprint data from this.
We do not use advertising trackers, and userampa.com does not set cookies.
3. How we use your information
- To open and run your account, and to process the payments you ask us to make.
- To verify your identity and meet our legal duties to prevent money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud (often called “know your customer” checks).
- To keep your account and money secure, and to detect and investigate suspicious activity.
- To show you the fees and exchange rates for each payment before you confirm it.
- To answer your questions and send you messages about your account and payments.
- To meet our obligations to regulators, tax authorities and law enforcement.
- To improve Rampa, using information about how the service performs.
We use your information because we need it to provide the service you signed up for, because the law requires it, or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Rampa safe and working well. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Payment partners that move your money, such as Yellow Card for mobile money and local bank payments, and Bridge for payments to suppliers abroad. They receive the details a payment needs, together with your verified identity details, which they are required to check under their own licences.
- Identity verification providers, such as Didit and Sumsub, which check your document and selfie on our behalf.
- Service providers that host and run Rampa for us, including Supabase (database and sign-in) and Cloudflare (hosting and network security). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- The people you pay. When you send money to another Rampa customer, they see your username, if you have one, and a short version of your name, such as “Ada B.”. Supplier payments carry your name or your business’s name and your reference, as banks require.
- Authorities, such as regulators, courts and law enforcement, when the law requires it.
- A new owner, if Rampa’s business is sold or merged. This policy would continue to protect your information.
5. International transfers
Some of our partners and providers process information outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. When your information leaves your country, we make sure it is protected by contract terms and security measures that keep it as safe as this policy promises.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. After it closes, we keep the records that anti-money-laundering, tax and financial record-keeping laws require, for as long as they require it, and then delete or anonymise them. Information we do not need to keep is deleted when your account closes.
7. How we protect it
Information travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Account numbers and personal details are stored encrypted, your PIN is stored hashed, and every payment needs your PIN. Only staff who need your information for their work can access it, and their access is recorded.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, except what the law requires us to keep;
- stop or limit some uses of your information, or object to them;
- send your information to you or to another provider in a common format.
Write to us at hello@userampa.com from the email address on your account. We will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
9. Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your Rampa account and its data at any time:
- Withdraw any money left in your balance.
- Email hello@userampa.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”.
- We will confirm the request with you and close your account within 30 days.
When your account is deleted, we delete your profile, username, saved accounts and suppliers, and verification images. We keep only the transaction and identity records the law requires, as described in section 6, and delete them when that period ends.
10. Children
Rampa is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly open accounts for children.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our service or the law changes. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect.
